Speaking truth! Speaking truth to Power! Working for a Sustainable Southeast Queens!

About EQA

The Eastern Queens Alliance, Inc. is a coalition of civic associations and neighborhood organizations in Southeast Queens that joined forces to address problems, issues, and concerns that defy boundaries and plague all or most of our communities. It is in working together that we have the strength to confront issues, negotiate viable solutions, and, if necessary, agitate to bring pressure to bear to achieve our goals. We understand that in unity, there is strength.

We are a proactive organization that strives to be ever-vigilant in preventing problems before they become entrenched. In doing so, we collectively enlist the aid of elected officials, as well as all relevant government and private agencies charged with the responsibility or have the resources to assist us.

Sitting on our coalition are the presidents and vice presidents (or other representatives) of Southeast Queen’s member civics, along with selected persons from the community who are experts in certain fields (e.g., Education, Business, etc.). Most EQA members have been working as grass-roots activists in their respective communities for several years.

EQA's Missions and Purposes

We aim to organize, unify, mobilize, and use the potentials and talents of all the residents, neighborhood associations, civics, clergy, businesses, and service providers in Southeast Queens, NY, and the surrounding areas, to bring about self-determination by acting in unity on mutual issues and concerns. We use the instruments of power to maintain, preserve, and develop the economic, social, political, cultural, and moral stability of the communities within the area. Moreover, EQA aims to maintain, develop, stabilize, and improve our community’s physical environment. We act to monitor, urge, and support the improvement of the service delivery of the Community Board, elected officials, and all city, state, and federal agencies that make decisions that affect the lives of those living in our area.
